I enjoy walking, gardening and reading and travelling when allowed. We have family scattered around the country and we enjoy visiting them in normal times. I am a member of a ukulele group but not yet proficient enough to be busking.
Volunteering has provided me with a new challenge after working in the NHS.
I was a volunteer and Trustee at The People’s Kitchen in Newcastle for 11 eleven years after retirement.
I moved to DASH in 2021 as this entailed less commuting, but still kept me in contact with a charity helping vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our society. Working with paid staff as well as volunteers allows me a different perspective on charity work. I am also looking forward to working with our Trustees.
I am happy to help out in any way needed on practical projects including gardening and fund raising, but please don’t ask me to get involved in social media or appear in a fashion parade.
I am looking forward to the completion of the Covid recovery ‘road map’ when we can all socialise and work together in real time, although face coverings and social distancing may still be necessary.
